Badminton
Congratulations to the U19 badminton team on winning the Edinburgh Schools Quaich. On March 2nd the team travel to Cumbernauld for the Scottish Quaich Competition—good luck!
Basketball
All five teams have had a busy and successful year so far. The S1 girls team have played well together and are very enthusiastic! They play Arbroath in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup.
The U15 girls team are now through to the semi-fnals of the Scottish Cup following outstanding victories against Mary Erskines 91–20. Their next round is against Portobello. The Open girls team had a 72–34 victory against Mary Erskines and an excellent win against Firhill but were defeated by Park Mains from Erskine in the latest round of the Cup. Congratulations to the U15 boys basketball team on their 69–29 victory against Kircaldy in the U15 Boys Plate Competition.
Bowling - coming soon
The Braid Bowling club have very kindly offered free coaching sessions to pupils at the school starting in April—speak to Miss Webb to find out more.
S1 boys football
The S1 boys team had an impressive 5–0 victory against Trinity Academy. Their record for the season is now: played 10, Won 8, Drew 1, Lost 1 (a goal difference of over +50) and second place in the league!
S3 boys football
The team have made a great start to the season in winning all 5 league matches to date. With only 3 further league matches to go, things are looking promising.
The only blot on an otherwise blemish free record was a defeat to Currie in the Scottish Shield. The boys did record their best result to date in the same completion by defeating Firhill away from home in a tremendous end to end match. The team has certainly grown in stature from the S1 days and have a very strong core of players at the heart of the team. The most important thing is that they continue to enjoy the experience; win, lose or draw.
Senior football
The team have been entered into the Plate competition which will consist of three teams, playing home and away, with the winner going into the semi-final. The games will take place in the coming weeks.
Dance

The B Star Dancers have had a very successful first year, each week the numbers growing. They have taken part in the Edinburgh Schools Dance competition with two senior pupils winning best dancers in their category. The club are also due to perform in the upcoming school dance show.
Girls football
The SFA have been running the Soccer One programme for the S1–3 girls. Parent SFA coach Derek Nelson has now kindly offered to take on the coaching much to the delight of the girls. Any girls interested in being part of the new football team should contact Miss Webb.
Hockey
Congratulations to the senior boys hockey team who had an excellent result against Edinburgh Academy. They won 4–1 to progress to the second round of the Scottish Schools cup.
Rugby
The chilly weather has hit the rugby teams hard with many games and training sessions being cancelled. In February the school are having a visit from some of Edinburgh Rugby’s professional players. The players will be answering questions, signing autographs and having pictures taken with the pupils.
